What is Petroliana?

Quite simply, Petroliana is a small section of the wider group of collecting anything car related known as Automobilia.
Petroliana itself as the name suggests relates to collectibles from the petroleum industry, so any historic items to do with oil companies, gas stations, fuel pumps etc all come under that name.
The golden age for Petroliana collectibles relates directly as you would expect to the golden age of motoring on the 50′s and the glamour associated with it from that time, but there is also interest in very early collectibles from the early 20th century. In fact anything that isn’t modern is considered collectible, but even the big plastic signs we see above petrol stations in the 21st century are likely to be considered collectors items in 50 years time!
